ASICS, which specializes in sports shoes and equipment, was founded in Japan in 1949 as Onitsuka Co. Ltd. After World War II, Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuka, the company's founder, realized that sport is an ideal way to show young people new perspectives and a universal path to happiness. This thought became an impulse to start work, which resulted in special basketball shoes. In 1977, there was a merger with two other companies in the sports industry, thus giving rise to ASICS, which is now one of the world leaders in the production and distribution of sports equipment. The name "ASICS" was created from the first letters of the Latin sentence "ANIMA SANA IN CORPORE SANO", which we know as "IN A HEALTHY BODY HEALTHY SPIRIT". Both the sentence and the philosophy to which it refers are extremely close to the views of Mr. Kihachiro Onitsuki
